The blade came hair-shaving sharp out of the box and the TiNi finish is excellent with no blemishes.

Understanding the Context

Blade is AUS-8 stainless steel. It's a decent steel, but it is on the soft side. I like it for it's corrosion resistance (the TiNi helps as well) and sharpening ease. Never owned a SOG but I have a Kershaw Blur tanto serrated that i use like mad and really like.

Its my #1 carry knife. My second carry knife is a Cold Steel Voyager, but the Kershaw usually goes everywhere with me. I'd seriously consider a Kershaw....they're great knives for the money. - brickboy240 But I'm not too concerned. Me either.
