Understanding the Context
Now in its 17th edition, this publication gives an overview of the key statistical trends in the sector. When compared to pre-COVID levels, European flights in 2024 closed at 96% of 2019 levels. The recovery rate for 2024 was in line with EUROCONTROL’s latest 7-year traffic forecast. While European flights as a whole have not yet recovered to pre-pandemic levels, the situation is more mixed locally.

The euro area encompasses the Member States of the European Union which have adopted the euro and in which a single monetary policy is conducted under the responsibility of the decision-making bodies of the European Central Bank. The European Parliament and the Council shall ensure publication of the documents relating to the legislative procedures under the terms laid down by the regulations referred to in the second subparagraph. European Commission presented its proposals for the 2028-2034 multiannual financial framework (MFF) on 16 July 2025. It proposes a budget amounting to a total of almost €1.8 trillion in commitments over the seven years.
